Rose sighed in obvious annoyance, but let him scan her all the same. Under the bright light, her eyes were bloodshot, and there were dark circles under her eyes. “Happy now?” She asked, pushing the sonic away.

“I’m okay, Doctor,” she lied easily. “Really, I am. Now just leave me alone, alright? I don’t want to be your experiment again.” What she didn’t see of course, was something being slipped into her drink, before she took it. “I’m going back to the library to finish my book, is that alright with you?” She took a sip of her coffee before leaving the room.

“Don’t—Don’t say that. You’re not my experiment, Rose. I care about you, that’s all.” He answered, watching carefully as she drank the coffee. He was careful to not slip too much of the sedative on her drink, so she wasn’t going to sleep for more than needed. All he was doing was to induce her to sleep; her body would handle the rest itself.

The Doctor nodded. “Yep. Totally okay. I’m gonna… leave you alone at last, if it’s what you want.” The Time Lord said and walked toward the door, through the same way he came in. But he didn’t go on down the corridor. After a couple of steps he stopped and stood close to the walls, waiting the needed minutes so she could fall asleep and could take her to her room and be less worried for now.
