He nodded, taking a deep breath as he look down and gathered strength to finish the sentence. The Doctor had realised that Rose was a big part of his life, not for a few time. And no good could come from this. The people he most cared about were the ones that something bad happened, and he needed to prevent it from happening to her.

It was hard to look into her eyes again and finish the sentence, but he didn’t have very much of a choice. Here what counts wasn’t what he wanted; it was what was good for her.
